This is an amazing capture and so wonderfully adorable...
I'm not sure about the title... I guess I can understand it, but... I don't know.
The monotone is fantastic. I feel it works well with the lighting to accentuate certain features so that the impact is increased overall. I also like the depth of field and how your son stands out there.
It's amazing how close you've gone and how clear it is too, especially around the eye... the eye itself could be sharper, but... I don't know. I guess it's the youth of him that makes it seem so new. 'Tis beauty, that.
What I'm not fond of is the framing... and the composition. That might be the thing letting you down here. I guess it does add more spontaneity to things and I like it personally, but on a more general scale, it's out of balance and such.
Perhaps, if you cropped it into a square, it would be better? =/
Do a photoshoot of him, though, and you may stumble upon something that is both natural and great.
